A General Timeline of Dr. Hawking's Life:
- 1942 - Born on January 8th in Oxford, England.
- 1952 - Begins attending highschool at St. Albans in North London, until 1958.
- 1959 - Attends Oxford University, where he earns his bachelors in physics by 1962.
- 1963 - Diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, the same disease as famous baseball player Lou Gehrig.
- 1965 - Marries Jane Hawking on January 1st.
- 1966 - Completed doctorate thesis, "Properties of the Expanding Universe".
- 1974 - One of the youngest people to receive the honor of beinmg selected a fellow of the Royal Society.
- 1979 - Becomes the 17th Lucasian professor of Mathematics at Cambridge University.
- 1988 - Published a book on cosmology for the general public that becomes an instant best-seller. "A Brief History of Time".
- 1989 - Queen Elizabethh II made him a Companion of Honor.
